What other experts have to say...
Wholesome Child’s Starting Solids course and meal plans are very useful tools to support parents as they navigate the often confusing area of commencing solids. The information is well organised and clearly presented. I particularly like the Starting Solids Step 1 (4-5 months), Step 2 (5-6 months), Step 3 (6-7 months) and Step 4 (8+months) approach which provides a good framework for parents to follow.

I completed the introduction to solids course when my baby was 4 months old. I understood the importance of starting solids early, but wasn’t sure as to exactly how I’d begin. The course provided clear and evidence-based recommendations to follow, particularly with regard to potential allergens. The recipes provided were extremely helpful and delicious, and my baby now loves his food! I would highly recommend the course to others.

I particularly love all recipes and the customizable meal plans. I feel a lot more organised and on top of providing an enjoyable experience for my baby.

I found the Starting Solids course really good – very easy to follow and great information. I also liked that it showed me when its good for my bub to eat and which foods to start. Meal plans are really handly, I like that I can print them and put them into a shopping list. The meal plans and 4 week timeline is really good because its gives ideas when you really can’t think yourself.
– Ricci Anstey, mum of a 3 yo and 1 yo —
As a first time mum, I put a lot of time and research into preparing for my pregnancy and birth, but after my baby was born, I was so absorbed with caring for him that I had no time or energy to research the next steps, like starting foods. To be honest, I’d hardly thought about it and didn’t really know when we should start. A friend recommended this course, and I took 3 days or so to browse through the modules when I had time. The information was detailed but presented simply to make it really easy to understand. Now I feel totally prepared…it was exactly what I needed! It might sound silly, but I really appreciated being shown the best way to chop up vegetables for finger food – I had never thought about that! This course is all you need to get you fully informed and ready to go, with meal plans included to make life extra easy. I totally recommend it!

As a first time mom there are many firsts: all of them emotional, most of them exciting and wonderous, and yet a few of them daunting and somewhat nerve wracking. For me – starting solids was one of the latter. I had no idea what to expect: I was terrified of giving the wrong first food; worried about potential choke hazards; weary of texture issues; fearful of potential allergIc reactions; wondering about lack of variety; and clueless about how to prepare the food. Me and recipes just don’t get on. Wholesome Child starting solids course came to my rescue! The step by step, simple, easy to follow modules gave me a clear and comprehensive breakdown of what, when and how and not just relating to food, but also including feeding techniques, feeding readiness, what to expect, reassuring me that every baby’s journey is different – and other useful tips relating to starting solids. I felt calmer about trying new things, excited at having a go at being an amateur chef, and mostly enjoying the potentially overwhelming journey with my not-so-small-now bundle of joy. The recipes are simple, clear and easy to follow and so far I love these recipes – and so does baby: Sweet oat and potato biscuits, Veggie pancakes, Hearty beef stew, Breakfast bars, Broccoli tots, Sweet potato crackers , Banana and cinnamon quinoa porridge, Banana Pikelets, Chocolate avocado smoothie, Peanut butter and oat porridge fingers – And looking forward to trying so many more. Thank you Wholesome Child for making this experience a more enjoyable, less stressful and fun one!

Introducing your baby to solid food can be a time of excitement and new adventure, but it can also be a time of frustration, stress and confusion. Many parents seek support from their mothers groups, maternal health nurses, GPs and paediatricians, but in a time of social distancing and isolation this isn’t always possible.
As a mother, I understand all too well the uncertainties that you might be feeling as you begin this next chapter with your baby, and I’ve gone through it myself – twice! As a paediatric nutritionist, nutrition author and SOS Feeding Consultant, I have helped many parents overcome the uncertainties and challenges that come with this milestone and I am here to guide you every step of the way, from the comfort of your own home.
You can navigate this course at your own pace, on any connected device and reach out at anytime if you need support.
I developed Starting Solids the Wholesome Way to not only provide you with the knowledge and tools you need to comfortably and confidently transition your baby onto solid food, but to also help you enjoy the experience and strengthen your baby’s lifelong relationship with food.
